Application Analysis of Electric Machine in Industrial Robots

The motor is used to drive the joints of the robot. The requirement is to have the maximum power to mass ratio and moment of inertia ratio, high starting torque, low inertia, and a wider and smoother speed range. Especially like the end effector (claw) of the robot, the motor with the smallest volume and the lowest mass should be adopted. Especially when the quick response is required, the servo motor must have higher reliability and greater short-time overload capability. Specific requirements:


Starting torque inertia ratio.

Control characteristics of the continuity and linearity, with the control signal changes, the motor speed can continuously change, and sometimes need to speed and control signals proportional to or approximately proportional.

Speed range.

Small size, low mass, short axial dimension.

Can withstand harsh operating conditions, can be very frequent positive and negative and acceleration and deceleration operation, and can withstand overload in a short time.

At present, due to high starting torque, high torque, low inertia AC, DC servo motor in industrial robots are widely used. Other motors, such as AC servo motors and stepper motors, are also applied to industrial robots according to different application requirements.
